How to build an kitchen island
The current trend is combining kitchens with a living room into one open space. In this context, the island takes the form of a link between these two rooms. It allows us to freely serve meals while maintaining constant eye contact with the invited guests. On the other hand, having a small flat area at our disposal, the island becomes a table at which we spend our free time together eating previously prepared meals.
The Design Kitchens collection offers dedicated cabinets for kitchen islands.
DPPW105/65, DW45, DW6,DSW6/3 – Island cabinets consist of two types of fronts – front and back. The front ones can be opened and have a handle. The back ones do not contain handles, they are permanently attached to the back of the cabinet and do not open.
The height of the cabinets is 82 cm (including 10 cm legs) or 87 cm (including 15 cm legs).
DWW4, DWW45, DWW6 – Island display cabinets are equipped with fronts made of black, matte aluminum frame filled with anthracite glass. As standard, these cabinets are equipped with glass shelves and BLUM hinges.
The height of the cabinets is 82 cm (including 10 cm legs) or 87 cm (including 15 cm legs). It is possible to modify the depth of the island cabinets – making them shallow without additional charges.
DBOW 58 – A top cabinet for built-in furniture, adapted to be enclosed with fronts. The cabinet is available in the color of the bodies or the colors of laminated fronts. The depth of the cabinet is 58 cm, the width of the cabinet is 30 cm. The height of the cabinet is 82 cm (including 10 cm legs) or 87 cm (including 15 cm legs).
When building a kitchen island, we can freely combine island cabinets to fit the space we have. Remember to use a distance of 120 cm between the built-in bottom cabinets and the island cabinets. This will ensure free opening of the fronts and increase the ergonomics of use. When connecting two island cabinets with their backs to each other, we use worktops from the width of 90 cm.
If you choose single island cabinets, the DBOW58 cabinet will be the perfect finish for the island. This cabinet can be perfectly matched to the color of the worktop, while enclosing it with the fronts used in the remaining kitchen furniture.
